Zcoin (XZC) Launches Version 14 to Boost Network Performance

Zcoin xzc

One month after announcing it would launch the 14th version of its protocol, privacy-focused cryptocurrency Zcoin (XZC), has finally released Zcoin v14.0.0 to improve the network’s performance.

According to an announcement made in a blog post today, the system-wide upgrade is a modification of its existing v13.8.10, as the new version comes with major fixes cutting across more than 2,831 files.

The latest version is equipped with a modified Bitcoin core 14/15 upgrade to enhance the network’s synching speed.

As announced last month, Zcoin’s v14.0.0 features a “Deterministic Znode lists”, which help to eliminate the barriers of Znodes not being able to reach a consensus to determine the correct masternode list.

With the latest version, all Znode lists will be registered on the blockchain via special transactions. Miners’ rewards will then be issued deterministically using the on-chain data and a Proof of service (PoSe) checks that confirms the validity of the Znode.

Preventing 51% attack

Notably, the upgrade also includes the integration of long-lived masternode quorums (LLMQ) into the Zcoin network.

LLMQ is Zcoin’s modification of Dash’s InstaSend feature to use BLS signature schemes to create larger masternode quorums up to 400 members, in order to perform sensitive tasks on the network.

Both Zcoin’s Deterministic Znode List and LLMQ will prevent a 51% mining attack on the network when it subsequently rolls out its InstaSend feature, Zcoin added.

Users are advised to update to the latest version of the Zcoin’s software before block 278,300, which is scheduled to be mined at 12:00 UTC on June 22, 2020.

The project further added that transactions on existing versions of the Znode’s software would be halted at block 284,400, approximately 12:00 UTC on July 13, 2020, until users update and register their Znodes on the new system.

More recently, many cryptocurrencies have or preparing to release significant updates to enhance their network performance and fix the bugs associated with the previous versions, including Bitcoin and Ethereum.

Coinfomania reported that the Bitcoin development team released Bitcoin 0.20.0, the 20th version of the Bitcoin protocol, to provide corrective measures and improvement to the previous Bitcoin software.
