A tech executive has been arrested in connection with the murder of Cash App creator Bob Lee in San Francisco, according to a Reuters report on Thursday that cited police statements.

Suspect Arrested in Connection to Lee’s Murder

Per the report, Nima Momeni was arrested on April 13 on suspicion of murder in the Bay Area city of Emeryville. Police described him as a 38-year-old man from Emeryville, California. Momeni’s LinkedIn profile shows that he is a UC Berkeley graduate and the founder of Expand IT – a company that provides security and technical support services.

Momeni said in his profile that he is a “dedicated technology partner,” supporting a variety of clients in the healthcare, finance, high tech/startup, technology, manufacturing, and service sectors since 2005.

Multiple reports have it that Momeni and Lee had been driving through downtown San Francisco together in Momeni’s car. The suspect has a minor criminal record, both involving knives, dating back to 2004.

Lee’s Murder

Lee died after being found stabbed on the 400 block of Main Street in SoMa in the wee hours of Tuesday, April 4. The San Francisco Police Department (SFPD) stated that officers responded to a report of the stabbing at 2:35 a.m. and found the victim suffering from apparent stab wounds, which he succumbed to after being transported to a local hospital.

According to surveillance footage and records reviewed by online news site The Standard, Lee walked alone on Main Street, holding his side with one hand and his cell phone in the other, leaving a “trail of blood” behind him.

San Francisco Police: Momeni knew Lee

San Francisco Police Chief William Scott confirmed that Momeni knew Lee but did not comment on the possible motive for the murder.

“We can confirm that Mr. Lee and Mr. Momeni knew each other,” Scott said, without disclosing the nature of their relationship or why they were together that night.

Momeni is currently being held without bail at the San Francisco County Jail.
