Ripple’s Xpring Launches Developer Platform to Facilitate Easy Payment

Ripple’s investment subsidiary, Xpring (pronounced as Spring) has launched a new platform that allows developers to integrate fiat and cryptocurrency payments into any application using the XRP.

According to an official announcement today, the platform would enable third-party app developers to easily send and receive payment in different currencies using both XRP Ledger and Ripple’s Interledger Protocol (ILP).

The new platform is reportedly useful to different industry experts, including crypto and non-crypto developers, and is equipped with the latest Xpring’s software development kit (SDK) that provides support for XRP/ILP in multiple programming languages.

Ethan Beard, Xpring senior vice president while speaking to an audience today, said:

Xpring SDK allows you the developer to use the XRP ledger simply and in any programming language you want. What takes a developer today a 100 lines of code to do a transaction on XRP ledger, using Xpring SDK cuts that down by 80%.

Per the announcement, Ripple noted that the platform would function like an Amazon Web Service (AWS) for payments, where developers could download payment codes from the platform and automatically run it themselves.

“Think of it like AWS but for payments – we’re taking open source and open standard technologies like the XRP Ledger and Interledger Protocol to make it dead simple to add payments into any app,” Beard added.

Interestingly, the platform can also be utilized in other use cases, including trading, micropayments for content owners and gaming.

Notably, Ripple added in the announcement that new participants in the form of BitPay, mobile wallet BRD, and digital custody provider Anchorage had been added to the XRP developer community, which will see them add the XRP token to their offerings.

In another development, Ripple, which is currently on a mission to increase its global presence, recently acquired an Iceland-based trading company, Algrim to boost the growth of its On-Demand Liquidity (ODL), a service that allows RippleNet customers to use the XRP token as a bridge between two currencies.
