PUBG Maker Partners Solana
Krafton signed an agreement with Solana to facilitate the development, design, and marketing of blockchain-based games and services.
The game maker has previously revealed its intentions to venture into the web 3.0 and NFT markets based on the experiences it gathered from developing its game PUBG universe along with its India Fork and Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI). To achieve its plans, the company has partnered with NFT, metaverse, and blockchain-based companies like Seoul Auction Blue, XX Blue, and NAVER Z (Zepeto).
Building on Solana
The partnership deal will see Krafton develop play-to-earn NFT games and services on the Solana blockchain.
By doing this, Krafton will help introduce digital assets such as NFTs to its globally popular games fostering the adoption of crypto and NFTs.
Hyungchul Park, Lead of the Web 3.0 Roundtable at KRAFTON, Inc., said concerning the partnership agreement between the two companies, “KRAFTON will continuously see ways to work closely with blockchain companies like Solana Labs as we work toward establishing our Web 3.0 ecosystem.”
He continued, “As one of the best global high-performance blockchains with strength in high speed and low fees, Solana represents the best of the Web 3.0 ecosystem and its technologies. Through this cooperation, KRAFTON will acquire the insight needed to accelerate its investment in and output of blockchain-based experiences.”
Johnny Lee, Head of Games Business Development at Solana Labs, also expressed the company’s joy in joining hands with Krafton to bring more exposure to crypto and NFT through the gaming world.
Meanwhile, Solana Labs recently launched a new payment infrastructure called Solans Pay to allow merchants to accept crypto payments directly. The decentralized, peer-to-peer payment infrastructure will allow users to make crypto payments with several cryptocurrencies like SOL, USDC, etc without the need for intermediaries.
