Binance Co-founder Issues Warning on Common Listing Scam

Binance

Yi He, co-founder of the largest cryptocurrency exchange Binance, has alerted users and crypto projects via X about a listing scam promoted by impostors.

Binance’s Yi He Raises Scam Alert

The Binance boss noted that she no longer has access to her LinkedIn account as she does not remember the password. Still, she shared a screenshot showing a fraudulent LinkedIn account with her display picture.

The bad player behind the malicious account invited crypto projects seeking to deploy and get listed on Binance. Unsuspecting projects may be lured by this fraudulent account to invest funds in a crypto wallet address that belongs to the exploiter.

Yi He also clarified that she is not responsible for handling the listing process for crypto projects. Binance’s support centre outlines that projects that seek to be listed on the crypto exchange must undergo “rigorous due diligence.” The process involves filling out an online application and waiting for approval via email from the Binance team.

The Binance boss added a disclaimer:

“Please be wary of those who claim to be close to me and discuss with you about investments or listing.”

More Binance-Related Scams

Binance has situated itself as the largest crypto exchange by trading volume. With over 120 million users globally, bad players have capitalized on the platform’s large user base to lure unsuspecting users to strip them of their funds.

Last year, Binance disassociated itself from a so-called “Binance Nigeria Limited” entity that promoted itself as a Nigerian Binance subsidiary. The exchange labelled the entity as a scam platform while issuing a cease and desist notice to the platform.

In an earlier report, Binance alongside some other crypto exchanges and crypto-related public figures saw their X accounts compromised. The malicious actors behind the exploits used the accounts to promote a 5,000 BTC giveaway. However, the X accounts were later reclaimed by the owners.
