Argentine lawyer Gregorio Dalbon has formally requested an Interpol Red Notice for Hayden Davis, the co-creator of the LIBRA token that became the center of a political controversy. The request was submitted to prosecutor Eduardo Taiano and judge María Servini, who are investigating President Javier Milei’s connection to the memecoin.
Lawyer Requests Interpol Red Notice for Hayden Davis
Dalbon contends that Davis represents a flight risk because of his access to substantial amounts of money, which might enable him to flee from legal processes. In the document, he claimed that Davis’ role in developing and marketing LIBRA might allow him to escape justice if measures are not implemented.
According to Dalbon, Davis’ role in the LIBRA launch and its international impact increases concerns about his whereabouts and potential movements. The lawyer, who previously represented former President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner in a fraud case, is pressing for Davis’ arrest and extradition.
LIBRA Token Controversy and Fraud Allegations
The token (LIBRA) was launched on February 14th, becoming nearly overnight popular after its President Milei posted it on social media. This value rocketed the token’s value above $4 billion, but its creators held the majority of the supply and then began to sell what they had. As a result of this, the price suddenly collapsed, and it was denounced as a pump-and-dump scheme by critics.
After that crash, Milei was named in multiple legal complaints filed in an Argentine criminal court. Some of the legal experts have further reported the matter to U.S. authorities claiming possible financial crime. Milei dismissed claims that he had been promoting LIBRA, saying he had only “spread the word” about it.
Hayden Davis Defends His Role in LIBRA Launch
In an interview with YouTuber Stephen Findeisen, also known as “Coffeezilla”, Hayden Davis denied allegations surrounding LIBRA. He described the token as a failed venture rather than a fraudulent scheme. His company, Kelsier Ventures, gained the most from the launch, with Davis stating he made approximately $100 million.
While Davis stated that he did not own LIBRA tokens and would not sell them, leaked messages suggested otherwise. Reports later surfaced that Davis allegedly boasted about paying Milei’s sister, Karina Milei, to have the president promote LIBRA. Davis denied these claims, saying he had no records of such payments.
Ongoing Investigations and Potential Legal Actions
Authorities continue to investigate the financial transactions surrounding LIBRA, while legal experts assess the next steps in prosecuting those involved. If granted, the Interpol Red Notice would enable law enforcement worldwide to track and detain Davis for possible extradition to Argentina.
With the case drawing international attention, both the political and legal consequences of the LIBRA token remain under scrutiny. Argentine officials are pushing for further action against those responsible, as the fallout from the scandal continues.
As of press time, LIBRA traded at $0.06199, indicating a 2.9% decline in the past 24 hours, based on Coingecko data.
