AMC Now Accepts BTC, BCH, LTC as Online Payment Options, Dogecoin Next

Popular American cinema operator AMC Entertainment today announced via Twitter that it now accepts cryptocurrencies as online payment options.

As per the announcement, the company’s CEO, Adam Aron, noted that the movie theater chain will now accept crypto assets including Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Litecoin (LTC), and also revealed plans to add Dogecoin (DOGE) next.

“Big newsflash! As promised, many new ways NOW to pay online at AMC.  We proudly now accept: drumroll, please… Bitcoin, Ethereum, Bitcoin Cash, Litecoin. Also Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal. Incredibly, they already account for 14% of our total online transactions! Dogecoin next,” Aron tweeted.

The movie theater chain initially announced its plans to accept Bitcoin as an online payment option in August.

Another announcement also came up late last month via a Tweet by Aron, where he noted that the company’s IT team is already writing code so that it can accept online payments in Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin and Dogecoin.

Aron conducted a Twitter Poll, asking if AMC should add memecoin, Shiba Inu (SHIB) to the list of online payment options.

In the final result, the majority of Aron’s Twitter followers voted yes, and that the memecoin should be added to the list.

If Aron followed the result, then SHIB will be included as an online payment option for AMC services.

Notably, Dogecoin has not been added to the list of crypto assets that will now be accepted as of yet, but Aron noted that it will be the crypto will be added next.

Even with last month’s Twitter poll favoring the addition of SHIB, today’s announcement did not make mention of the memecoin.

It’s no news that cryptocurrency is now edging towards mainstream adoption. Several sectors and industries with a fear of missing out are now embracing the asset class.

About 4 months ago,  smart product online store Wellbots announced that its customers could now pay for goods on its platform using 6 different cryptocurrencies including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Bitcoin Cash, DAI, Litecoin and USD Coin.
