Amidst the market volatility, businesses have suffered a lot. There has been major scale upheaval due to Donald Trump’s newly formulated fiscal policies and market panic. In the middle of all this, Eric Semler of Semler Scientific made some scathing observations about Zoom communication. He asked the company to put away some funds to invest in BTC, claiming it would help the company deal with rainy days.
In a recent post on X, Semler talked about his firm’s success. He stated that he used a similar technique suggested by him. Semler acquired 3,192 BTC valued at around $305 million. Semler then used this investment to double Semler Scientific’s stock prices. As a result, Semler believes that Zoom could replicate the model and recover itself.
A Declining Statistics & Recovery Plan
In his strongly worded X-post, Semler called Zoom a Zombie Zone company. In other words, Semler pointed out the underwhelming market performance over the last three years. As per data from Semler, the share price of Zoom fell roughly by 40%, with an underperforming S&P 500 by around 73%. In the last few years, the overall S&P of the company has lagged by 84% on average.
Despite a forward earning multiplied by 15% and the Forward EBITDA multiple hovering at 9x, there is considerable stagnation on the growth index. Semler claims the company is sitting on a cash reserve of $7.7 million without any chalked-out plan. As a result, Semler suggests that the company should invest in BTC.
Semler believes this move will catapult the company’s share prices and turn it into one of the largest corporations to hold BTC. As of now, there have been no retweets or comments by the CEO of Zoom, Eric Yuan. However, experts believe that Semler is making sense and that such a move can help Zoom start its upward momentum.
