Vitalik Buterin recently encouraged researchers to take part in the Poseidon cryptanalysis program that has been extended to March 15, 2025.
Is Ethereum Optimizing ZKP applications?
Ethereum is still on its transitioning mode, moving to PoS mechanism where it is actively exploring the limits of ZKP (Zero-Knowledge Proof) applications through Poseidon hash function in its Layer 2 scaling solutions.
Poseidon is a cryptographic hash function which is, unlike SHA-256 and other traditional hash functions, designed to provide faster computation with lower memory usage in arithmetic circuits.
This move has the potential to improve zk proofs efficiency and make it faster. Consequently, it will help Ethereum to enhance privacy and scalability. Hence, Buterin is now pumped up to invite cryptographers and researchers to explore Poseidon’s security before adopting the hash function to upgrade Ethereum further.
Highly encourage researchers to participate in the Poseidon cryptanalysis program.

We are seriously considering migrating Ethereum to the Poseidon hash to optimize zk-prover friendliness, so having more information about its security properties is extremely high value. https://t.co/AhbV8abD4z
Is the Poseidon Passion Related to Bybit Hack?
Ethereum recently faced a major ground shattering crypto heist when it lost over $1.46 billion on Bybit. Hence Buterin is taking conscious steps to render Poseidon as a safe plan for Ethereum’s infrastructure. This research will help him find the guarantee he’s looking for and integrate the Poseidon hash function with greater surety.
At this point, security stands at the most important concern for the cryptocurrency ecosystem. The recent attacks have yet again shaken the trust in digital assets but equally balanced by the new regulatory promises by SEC.
Nevertheless, Ethereum upgrade is still on the way and we are yet to witness a number of new adoptions and changes, further strengthening its security in the PoS mechanism.
