Ethereum co-founder, Vitalik Buterin is known for his philanthropy, constantly raising money and donating to charity by selling a bunch of cryptocurrencies. In his latest effort, the crypto billionaire disposed of 8 notable memecoins to raise an outstanding $1.62 million which he sent to charities.
This comes barely a week after he raised $762,000 by selling 10 billion Moodeng memecoins. At the time, Buterin said he used the proceeds to fund anti-airborne-disease technologies. The update was corroborated by the on-chain tracking platform Lookonchain which also noted that Buterin transferred 260.16 ETH, worth $642K to the Kanro charity.
Vitalik Buterin’s Latest Donations
Spot on Chain, a sophisticated crypto transaction tracker, gave details on the specific memecoins Buterin sold and the amount and the amount raised from each. According to the data provided, Buterin sold 10 billion Moodeng (worth $982k), 200k MSTR (valued at $231,000), 500 million EBULL coins (worth approximately $183,000), and 15 million Popcat coins (or $67.2k).
Other coins include 31.4 trillion FWOG ($55.9k), 20 billion Milo coins ($51.4k), 500.1k TCATI ($31.8k), and 201.9 million VITALIK ($13.6k). All the mentioned tokens were converted into ETH and distributed among charities.
Notably, in the past 9 days, he has raised 1,101 ETH (valued at $2.8 million) by selling memecoins and donated 360.16 ETH (worth $884K) to charities.
Buterin Appreciates Memecoin Issuers
Meanwhile, in a previous post, Vitalik Buterin extended his appreciation to all the memecoin issuers who have sent him their tokens for donation. He commended projects like EBULL that sent a significant amount to various groups in the previous month.
Moreover, Buterin reminded that any coin that is sent to him is donated to charities. He thanked Moodeng, noting that the 10 billion coins sent to him were directed toward creating anti-airborne-disease tech. However, he proposed that these coins be sent directly to charities rather than coming through him.
Additionally, he suggested that projects create a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) where members of the community will be directly engaged in the decision-making process.
Vitalik Buterin has always maintained his stance on extended memecoin utility. He has stressed that he believes the asset group can be channeled toward meaningful projects in society, and even helping people from poorer countries to earn a living.
Buterin’s Portfolio Balance
After the latest donations, Buterin still holds a staggering amount of cryptocurrencies in his giveaway portfolio. According to data from Spot on Chain, the crypto mogul has a mouthwatering $700 million in memecoins.
His holdings include $2.4 million in MOODENG tokens, $144,000 in Neiro (NEIRO), $117,000 in MSTR, and $80,000 in Degen (DEGEN).
