Trevor Noah Says Not Buying Bitcoin Early Was His Biggest Ever Mistake

At the Web Summit Qatar in Doha on Monday, popular comedian Trevor Noah branded not buying Bitcoin early as the biggest mistake he has ever made in his life. He said he didn’t take his time to understand how the digital asset works, so he missed getting it when “it cost nothing at some point.”

“The biggest mistake I have ever made was not buying Bitcoin when it was nothing; I mean that’s the biggest mistake I have made. It cost nothing at some point,” Noah said when the host asked him about the biggest mistake he had ever made.

    Noah Bemoans Missing Out

The former The Daily Show presenter seems not to get over missing out on buying Bitcoin for almost nothing in the early days of the crypto asset. He also noted that his biggest mistake was not taking the time to understand how Bitcoin works.

The South African-born comedian once discussed cryptocurrency in a show in 2022, when top exchange FTX filed for bankruptcy after its financial health came under question. He joked about the collapse, the broader market collapse at that time, and Elon Musk’s purchase of X (formerly Twitter).

Before revealing his big Bitcoin FOMO, Noah revealed his love for tech and shared his view on the recent rise of artificial intelligence (AI). Rumors surfaced about Noah’s intention to quit his presentation gig to pursue bitcoin trading at a firm named Bitcoin Revolution South Africa. However, the speculations did not hold water after making the rounds in 2018.

    Bitcoin Took Off

Since Noah made comments regarding crypto, which coincided with the FTX collapse, Bitcoin has grown over 330% to date. Bitcoin’s outstanding run in 2023 saw it emerge as the best-performing asset of the year, outperforming gold, real estate, and bonds.

The Bitcoin flight is speculated to still be early, with analysts predicting six digits for the asset before the end of 2025. Bitcoin reached a 27-month high of $57,000 on Tuesday, with the halving coming in less than two months.
