From IP Tokens to AI Agents: Buildathon Targets Web3’s Creator Frontier

Story Protocol has launched a seven-track buildathon focused on the future of intellectual property. The event invites creators and developers to design real-world tools for IP registration, monetization, and discovery. Tracks range from AI agent development to fractional IP finance, open from May 20 to June 26. It is backed by leading Web3 entities including Polychain, Pantera Capital, and AngelHack. Key workshops will run between May 20 and 23, with demo day set for June 26.

Top partners also include Encode Club, Crossmint, and Balaji Srinivasan’s Network School. The program is designed to bridge creators, AI, and decentralized applications around IP. The focus therefore is on making tools that allow anyone to register, license, and protect digital assets. Participants will use the Story SDK, IP Portal, and Attestation Service to build their projects. Story has positioned this as a defining step toward a creator-first Web3 legal framework.

Each Track Reflects a Real Challenge in IP-Tech Evolution

Track 1 is for non-technical creators building market strategies and original IP portfolios. Adding to which, Track 2 focuses on AI agents negotiating, exchanging, or verifying IP usage autonomously. Track 3 aims to create intuitive user experiences for registering and licensing IP. Also, track 4 targets enforcement, proposing detection systems and brand protection tools. Nonetheless, track 5 explores IP finance — from fractional ownership to yield from staked content.

Track 6 deals with datasets, enabling discovery and licensing of training inputs. Track 7 is the community-chosen wildcard, hosted on Jokerace for voting. These tracks map directly to challenges facing today’s digital rights economy. Tools like C2PA watermarking and zero-knowledge attestation are encouraged in builds. Story’s Group Module and Royalty Tokens will help creators build full-stack IP tools.
