American Convenience Store Chain Sheetz To Accept Bitcoin Payments

Sheetz, an American convenience store chain, has recently joined the list of businesses that accept bitcoin payments, becoming the first convenience store retailer to adopt bitcoin.

According to an official announcement on Thursday, Sheetz customers will soon start making purchases in the store and at the company’s gas pumps with their Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, and even the memecoin, DOGE.

The company revealed that this new initiative will be fully operational on selected Sheetz stores later this summer.

However, before the year runs out, the crypto payment option will be made available on all 622 Sheetz stores and gas pumps in Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Ohio, and Maryland

Sheetz will enable its digital currency payments via the pure-digital payments network, Flexa.

By utilizing its scalable, instant, and climate-neutral technology, Flexa can convert customers’ crypto payments to the USD for Sheetz in real-time.

Speaking on this new development, the payment manager for Sheetz, Linda Smith said,

” Our mission at Sheetz is to continue providing our customers with the ultimate one-stop shop where they can refuel their car and refresh their body. As a result, we are constantly innovating and exploring new offerings to truly give our customers what they want, when they want it, 24/7/365 — that includes accepting many forms of payment. We’re very excited to be working with Flexa to roll out support for cryptocurrencies and other types of digital assets at our stores.”

Flexa’s co-founder, Trevor Filter added,

” With interest in digital currencies reaching all-time highs, it’s easy to lose sight of the fact that there are real, tangible benefits for the merchants who accept them—not only reduced fraud and cost savings, but also a better and more mobile customer experience. Sheetz is one of the most forward-thinking brands in the business and understands its customer base better than anyone else. We’re absolutely elated that Flexa can help them become the first convenience and retail chain to accept digital currencies directly at the pump.”

Sheetz will also leverage its partnership with the POS solution provider, NCR, to enable Flexa’s instant process for crypto payments.

Additionally, customers will have the choice to link their My Sheetz Rewardz loyalty accounts when paying with other Flexa-enabled apps.

In recent months, several businesses have begun accepting bitcoin payments. A few weeks ago, the Scottish beer company, OGV said that it will start accepting crypto payments for its products.
