Rapper Kodak Black Receives $300k In Bitcoin From Drake; Plans to HODL

Popular American rapper Bill Kahan Kapri, popularly known as Kodak Black recently disclosed he had received $300,000 worth of bitcoin as gift from another rapper Drake, who is also the founder of OVO Sound.

Kodak Black disclosed details of the 6.6 BTC gift he received during his latest visit to The Breakfast Club, a New York-based syndicated radio show hosted by DJ Envy, Angela Yee, and Charlamagne Tha God.

While talking about some of his personal experiences, Charlamagne Tha God, asked Kodak about his friendship with the OVO Sound founder. Narrating the situations surrounding the gift, Kodak said, “We do a lot of behind-the-scenes talking and s**t.”

He continued, “I ain’t tell nobody but the other week that n***a sent me bitch a quarter-million dollars for no f***ing reason. I don’t even know. Me and my brother Lance, we in the car and s**t. This n***a text me like ‘You got bitcoin?’ I was like ‘nah.’ He was like, ‘Set up a bitcoin then.’ So you know, I’m like, ok, I’m putting two and two together, that’s four, you know what I’m sayin’?”

Concerning the bitcoin in his wallet, Kodak revealed that he does not have any plans of selling the assets. Instead, the American rapper plans to hold it for at least a while, with the 6.6 BTC gift currently worth around $254,000.

Celebrities Investing in Bitcoin

Recently, celebrities are showing interest in the crypto community. Drake, who gifted Kodak Black with the bitcoins recently won more than $1m in from Super Bowl bitcoin bets. The rapper, whose full name is Aubrey Drake Graham, is also a singer and actor.

Drake placed about three major bets using Bitcoin holdings, including a bet for the Los Angeles Rams to win against the Cincinnati Bengals in the Super Bowl LVI finals. With the three bets, he was able to win more than a million dollars worth of bitcoin.

Coinfomania also reported of Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey coming together with the American rappers, Michael Carter (a.k.a Lil Wayne), and Shawn Carter (a.k.a Jay-Z) to donate 500 BTC, which was worth about $23.7 million at that time, to a bitcoin development effort ₿trust.
