Pi Network Updates Node to 0.5.4, Boosts Stability and UI Features

Pi Network has rolled out version 0.5.4 of its Pi Node software. It is now officially branded as Pi Desktop, introducing key performance upgrades, bug fixes and user experience improvements. The update aims to enhance system stability, streamline Node operations. Additionally, strengthen connections between the Node, Pi mining app, and Pi App Studio, all crucial parts of the Pi ecosystem.

Major Fixes and Performance Upgrades

The latest version focuses on solving several issues reported by community Node operators in the previous release, version 0.5.3. These include glitches related to Node mining rewards, automatic updates, and block container creation. All of which affected performance and consistency across different devices.

Pi Network said these fixes will make the Node more reliable and efficient. Especially for Pioneers running multiple components of the Pi ecosystem simultaneously. The new version also refines the open-port verification process. It ensures that Node bonus calculations are more accurate and secure. This feature is a key step toward the future migration of Node mining rewards to the mainnet environment.

New Interface and Easier App Access

With version 0.5.4, the project also focuses on improving the overall desktop experience. Pi Desktop now allows users to open approved external links. It’s a small but significant change that helps Pioneers access official blog posts, documentation and Pi App Studio resources without leaving the app. Previously, external links were disabled, often causing interruptions in workflow.

Another highlight is the easier access to Pi App Studio. Which now appears directly in the top navigation bar alongside the Node and mining app. This design change makes it more intuitive for developers and creators to build and deploy dApps without switching between different menus. The update also resolves a preview issue in App Studio, where deployed apps weren’t displaying correctly. A fix that should improve usability for dApp developers.

Pi Network officially renamed the Pi Node application to “Pi Desktop.” This reflects its broader role as a multifunctional hub for mining, Node operation and dApp creation. This rebranding underscores the project’s vision to turn Pi into a unified platform for decentralized participation. Rather than just a mining interface.

Beyond these updates, the team is integrating Pi Desktop with ongoing ecosystem initiatives like OpenMind.
