The fact that cryptocurrency awareness is growing in Greece has led to the demand for more crypto ATMs. According to a local news source, GreekMoney, the number of such machines will now be increased to meet up with demands.

Crypto ATMs operate independent of traditional banking institutions and allow users to withdraw crypto assets in fiat. So far, existing machines in Greece allow residents to withdraw their BTC, ETH, LTC, and DASH.

Stefanos Getsopoulos, co-founder of a crypto company, Thess Cash Hellas told the news source that they are set to add to the number of such ATMs in Northern Greece. This has strong connections with Bcash Greece and plans to open three more ATMs in that part of the country soon.

“In the coming days, ATMs will operate in Kastoria and Ioannina and in September in Alexandroupolis, in the context of the collaboration with Bcash,” he said in the report.

There are already crypto withdrawal points located in Athens (in Koukaki and Glyfada). Also, there is one in Thessaloniki and the rest can be found in Larissa, Patras, Kalamata, Mykonos, and Crete.

Raising The Bar – No Limits To Number of Bitcoin ATMs in Greece

Whether because of curiosity or innovation, the number of people that have used bitcoin ATMs in Greece is reportedly around 1500 people. It is expected that the numbers will increase in the coming weeks, therefore, Stefanos did not put any limits on the number of machines his company will provide in the near future.

He said in the report “We as Thess Cash this year will have four ATMs in Northern Greece, based on the demand. Why not have 14 in 2019? Our goal is to install as much as possible.”

A recent report by the market research firm, MarketsandMarkets, pointed out that the global cryptocurrency ATM market is expected to hit $144.5 million by 2023. This would be a massive rise of eight-fold from the current $16.3 million and Greece will likely have a big part to play in the upward trend.
