Cryptocurrency wallet provider MetaMask announced it had fixed a critical bug in its mobile app version 7.9.0 that caused transaction failure for a limited number of users.

The bug, which has now been fixed, prevented certain transactions from executing as expected and disappearing from the transaction view on MetaMask Mobile. Moreover, transactions failed to appear on block explorers like Etherscan.

While directing affected users to contact its customer support team, MetaMask urged them to use the latest version, 7.10.0, to ensure seamless transaction processing.

“We have addressed a bug in MetaMask mobile app v7.9.0. If you have not yet upgraded your mobile client yet, please do so immediately to the latest version 7.10.0!” MetaMask said on X (formerly Twitter).

As stated in the App Store preview, the MetaMask mobile app’s latest version, 7.10.0, introduced several improvements in security, performance, and user experience. The version introduced features like the SDK connect+sign flow, enhanced transaction views, EIP-6963 Provider integration, and zkSync Era support.

MetaMask mobile app is both a wallet and a browser that allows users to buy, send, spend, and exchange their digital assets. It is one of the most popular crypto wallets, with over 30 million active users.

In recent months, MetaMask has been actively working to improve the security of its wallet. In October, MetaMask partnered with Web3 security firm Blockaid to develop privacy-preserving security alerts in the MetaMask extension.

The feature is designed to proactively warn users about potentially malicious transactions, thus helping to prevent various types of attacks, including phishing, and malware. According to MetaMask, the feature aims to prevent billions of dollars worth of assets from being stolen by attackers.
