English Soccer Team, Manchester City Launches Fan Token (NFT) On Socios.com

Leading English Premier League professional soccer club Manchester City, otherwise known as ‘Man City’ has joined the train of football clubs to launch a fan-based crypto-token in collaboration with Socios.com.

Per the announcement, the official fan token is dubbed $CITY and available on the Socios platform opening a new page to the digital relationship between the club and its fan base.

Drawing the club closer to the fans than ever before, the $CITY token (a non-fungible token) will allow Man City fans to enjoy access to many rewards including; voting power in some binding and non-binding club polls on Socios.com, club games, and promotion among other benefits like VIP rewards.

Commenting on the latest development and attractive rewards, Senior Vice President at Global Partnership Sales, City Football Group, Stephan Cieplik, stated; “every existing registered Cityzen will also be eligible for a free token so they can access the full range of benefits and rewards.”

CEO at Socios.com Alexandre Dreyfus, commended the football club, he said; “The Club have proven they are ahead of the pack in embracing innovation and will enhance that status further through the $CITY Fan Token.”

Meanwhile, the $CITY token is already live for purchase on the Socios.com App where ‘Cityzens’ are granted access to claim their free token with a given voucher code. Users can also purchase fan tokens using Chiliz (CHZ), the native token for the Socios.com platform. 

With a $3 billion market cap, Chiliz currently ranks 35th on the list of largest cryptocurrencies by market cap. CHZ is up by 37% in the last seven days according to CoinMarketCap.

Meanwhile, Man City is not the only professional soccer club to join forces with Socios.com. Other popular football clubs (over 15 teams) have done so in the past. Notably, BSC Young Boys and Italian Soccer giant AC Millan have partnered with Socios.com to create fan tokens.
