Ledger, a popular cryptocurrency hardware wallet provider, has detected a major issue with its backend services affecting XRP holders.
Ledger Detects Issue Affecting XRP Holders
Without explicitly stating the issue, Ledger’s support team said on X (formerly Twitter) that the problem would prevent users from adding XRP accounts to or sending XRP from Ledger Live.
“In the meantime, you may not be able to add an XRP account in Ledger Live, or send XRP from Ledger Live,” the team said.
Ledger did not provide details of when the issue will be fixed but stated that its team is currently working on it and looking for a fix.
The team assured users that their funds remain safe despite the issue.
“Rest assured, this has no effect on your funds,” the team said.
Ledger Provides Temporary Fix for XRP Holders
While seeking a permanent solution to the problem, Ledger provided a temporary fix for XRP holders. The support team urged users to connect their Ledger Nano to the XRP Toolkit to view and manage their XRP until the issue is fixed.
To connect a Ledger Nano to the XRP Toolkit, users are to launch the XRP app on their devices, go to the XRP Toolkit website, and click the “Get Started” button. Then, click on “Connect Wallet” followed by “Ledger Device” and “Connect Ledger.” A selection box will appear where users select their device and click “Connect.”
Earlier this month, the Ledger support team issued an important alert to XRP holders. At the time, the team warned users of a fraudulent scheme aimed at siphoning off their cryptocurrencies.
The fraudulent scheme, disguised as a live airdrop event, aims to deceive users into transferring their crypto assets to malicious actors in return for extravagant returns. As stated by Ledger, the malicious actors leveraged social media channels to entice unsuspecting users with the prospect of an exchange-traded fund (ETF) and a gift program associated with XRP.
