Google Launches Blockchain Node Engine for Web 3 Ecosystem

Google announced today the launch of its Google Cloud’s Blockchain Node Engine (BNE) for Web 3 software developers.

The technology giant disclosed that the node hosting services would enable decentralized-focused companies to execute transactions, deploy smart contracts, and read or write blockchain data with Google Cloud.

Google to Support Web 3 Applications

With this software solution, blockchain developers can benefit from its comprehensive services, including secure development, fully managed operations, and streamlined provisioning.

“Today, manually deploying a node is a time-intensive process that involves provisioning a compute instance, installing an Ethereum client (e.g. geth), and waiting for the node to sync with the network. Google Cloud’s Blockchain Node Engine can make this process faster and easier by allowing developers to deploy a new node with a single operation and specify the desired region and network,” the company said.

Developers wishing to optimize their blockchain infrastructure can leverage their security configurations to help combat unauthorized access to the nodes.

BNE plans to position nodes behind Virtual Private Cloud firewalls to enable only trusted machines and users to interact with client endpoints.

The service is also designed with other components, such as Cloud Armor, to protect the nodes from distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks.

Google disclosed that the node solution would be fully managed by its cloud service team, allowing developers to focus on their users instead of the infrastructure.

The firm also noted that BNE would first support the Ethereum blockchain before adopting other decentralized protocols in the industry.

The node service will allow developers building and deploying applications on the Ethereum ecosystem to “provision fully managed Ethereum nodes with secure blockchain access.”

Meanwhile, Google has actively engaged with the crypto sector over the past few weeks.

On October 4, the technology giant signed a partnership with Near Protocol to provide infrastructure for its Web 3 platform dubbed Pagoda. Google will also provide technical support to Near grant recipients.

Google has also partnered with crypto exchange Coinbase to accept crypto payments for its cloud services.

The company plans to use Coinbase Prime to offer Google Cloud’s corporate and institutional customers the opportunity to pay for its goods and services with selected crypto assets.
