The University of Gibraltar has announced a partnership with Huobi University, a leading blockchain institute in China to conduct educational research using blockchain technology.
According to a press release today on Gibraltar’s official website, the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Gibraltar’s Minister for Commerce, Albert Isola MP, and the President of Huobi University, Dr. Jianing Yu in Beijing earlier this week.
Isola said during his visit to Beijing that it has always been the vision of both schools to promote high-level academic research around the blockchain technology, and he is hoping to see that dream come into fruition.
The minister further stated that the MoU would foster better academic research, and the inclusion of blockchain and crypto-related courses in the University of Gibraltar’s curriculum.
“We are very excited at the prospect of future collaborations between Huobi University and the University of Gibraltar, particularly as a means of accelerating the establishment of high quality blockchain-focused educational initiatives,” Albert added.
Per the release, this is not the first time Huobi University will be delivering blockchain and crypto-related projects in various educational institutes.
Dr. Jianing said since the inception of the Chinese blockchain institute, it has carried out similar projects in top countries, including China, the United States, Japan, and South Korea, and has already trained more than 1,000 blockchain industry elites.
“Strategic cooperation with the University of Gibraltar is an important step towards the internationalization of the Huobi University, and both parties will launch a series of English-oriented courses for entrepreneurs and investors around the world in the future,” Dr. Jianing added.
Commenting on the development, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Gibraltar, Professor Catherine Bachleda noted the university is already utilizing the blockchain technology in conducting various academic researches while adding that the partnership with Huobi University will help advance the school’s involvement with the blockchain tech.
