EY, a leading global organization for accounting, has made a significant announcement regarding an important update for Nightfall, its enterprise Ethereum layer 2 blockchain. The new version is called “Nightfall_4,” transforming the old optimistic rollup design into a new architecture that is a zero-knowledge rollup (ZK-rollup), which gives immediate finality for transactions and has greater privacy. This will highlight news in Ethereum regarding the fact that Nightfall simplifies things for the network, mainly because there is no longer a need for these challenge periods, which makes it very open to companies. This marks EY’s fourth significant upgrade since Nightfall’s launch in 2019.
EY Enhances Ethereum Layer 2 Nightfall with Zero-Knowledge Rollups
In the latest ethereum news within the revolutionizing Eth ecosystem, EY has transformed the enterprise-targeted layer- 2 blockchain of Ethereum-Nightfall into a zero-knowledge ZK rollup design recently on 2nd April and launched “Nightfall_4”, simplifying the network architecture and providing instant transaction finality on Ethereum. By moving away from optimistic rollups, Nightfall avoids users having to contest what otherwise would be false transactions, thereby ironically rendering transaction speed quicker.
Nightfall thus operates very much like private token transfers through public keys to digital signatures, where identity verification happens bound to that assigned public key, retaining most of the security benefits of Ethereum but at a fraction of the cost. The shift to ZK-rollups is also in keeping with a new trend in which clients are more comfortable with non-disclosure methods due to the recent loosening of US sanctions against Tornado Cash. Nightfall will remain a closed system within EY for clients only, competing with solutions such as Hyperledger Fabric and R3 Corda.
The chief of global blockchain at EY, Paul Brody, pointed out that the ZK-rollup model has instant finality and thus also makes operation simple because there is no need for challenger nodes. Nightfall’s code is open-source on GitHub, part of EY’s wider strategy to provide Ethereum-based enterprise solutions to privacy-sensitive projects.
Ethereum Price Prediction of the Last 24 Hours
On the 5-minute chart, Ethereum is exhibiting volatility, fluctuating around key support and resistance levels. Following a breakout attempt, the price has retraced to approximately $1,824.47. Support is established around $1,851, while resistance hovers near $1,920. If Ethereum manages to hold at the $1,775 support, then once again, the token can rebound toward the resistance level of $1,850.

However, if it breaks below $1,775, there would be room for further declines to $1,750 once the selling pressure intensifies. A breakout beyond $1,950 will confirm the bullish scenario. Consider taking trades based on the manifest changes in momentum and possible reversal-like signals from the RSI and MACD indicators. This Ethereum news can be termed short-term as it tactically analyzes the past market, but also broader market trends and developments under the Ethereum layer 2, like the increase in EY Nightfall upgrade, can have an impact on Ethereum price prediction.
Future Outlook: Ethereum Layer 2 Advancements
As anticipated, the City of Nightfall, EY’s Ethereum layer 2 solution relying on zero-knowledge rollups, will showcase the growing relevance of scalability and privacy between the different blocks of the Ethereum ecosystem. This line of action would follow the entire mainstream concerning Ethereum news, for layer 2 is the greatest way for talking about enhancing transactions in terms of both speed and cost-effectiveness.
There are a number of price estimations, ranging from $4,000 to $6,700, regarding the future price of Ethereum in 2025. These estimates, however, differ in terms of justification based on the accessibility of the market and the evolution of technology. Given the upgrades by Ethereum, including Ethereum 2.0, it appears ever more likely that further heights in Ethereum price predictions will be seen.
