One of football’s biggest names, Cristiano Ronaldo, announced Tuesday the upcoming issuance of his first NFT collection in collaboration with Binance on November 18th. Cristiano Ronaldo disclosed the NFT collection would display his career’s iconic moments and build his Web3 community.

Binance confirmed the announcement, citing the new development as “ground-breaking,” mentioning that his NFT collection is one that fans eagerly anticipate.

Football meets NFTs

Cristiano Ronaldo isn’t the first footballer to own an NFT collection. NFT has become a recent trend in one of the most followed sports in the world.

Paul Pogba recently endorsed CryptoDragon, an NFT project, and made his intentions clear of his desire to purchase an NFT egg on his Instagram page. Former Chelsea and England captain John Terry has been very active in the NFT market and owns an NFT; “ John Terry Ape, which he sold at an auction for $7,000 prize money. 

Other notable footballers have ventured into the NFT world. Players like Reece James, Rio Ferdinand and Antoine Griezmann, to mention but few, have in the past invested in NFT projects.

More NFT Adoption Likely to Happen

Binance confirmed that since their multi-year partnership with Cristiano Ronaldo, they have been working to create an NFT collection for the football icon.

The influence of Cristiano Ronaldo is quite enormous. He is the most followed person on Instagram, with 455 million followers on the photo-sharing app. With over 593 million followers across different channels, CR7 is the most followed human on social media.

With the social media sensation being the latest to own NFT collections with a top exchange like Binance, there will likely be more NFT adoption worldwide. His influence has a broad reach, and the marketplace will boost users with his latest NFT inclusion.
