In response to a question about when the Brave browser will create a “YouTube killer,” Brendan Eich, the CEO and co-founder of the blockchain-powered browser said “SOON,” leaving users curious about the development.

Eich further revealed that plans are already underway to add the new feature to the privacy-oriented web browser. He said, “I’m starting with design but we have non-frontend pieces already built.”

Killing Youtube In-browser

This comes as great news to users of the web browser, with wild speculations as to how the alternate will work and the features that will be made available on it for both users and advertisers.

Providing more information about the upcoming feature, the CEO further explained that it will not be a replacement for youtube service, rather, they aim to take down the app in-browser.

“Not YouTube service, we aim to kill the app in-browser. Also, we do not want to run a social network or login system. But the browser can disintermediate and mash up content, so the app approach can ideally use YouTube just for storage and high qos routing,” he said.

Brave browser is quite popular for its privacy policy which automatically blocks ads and trackers that not only slows down the performance of users’ devices and browsing operations but also invades privacy, thus, providing added security to users in addition to making the browsing process seamless.

The browser is also popular for its native cryptocurrency, Basic Attention Token (BAT), which is a utility token based on the Ethereum network that the company employs to compensate its users who opt-in to its ads program where they can earn up to 70% of the revenue gotten from ads just by viewing them.

Promoting crypto adoption

Brave browser is also actively promoting the mainstream adoption of cryptocurrencies by integrating the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange, Binance, in order to enable users to buy and sell cryptocurrencies as well as view their transactions, all on the platform.

The browser has more than 15 million active monthly users, with over 5.3 million active daily users. It is also utilized by millions of content creators on various platforms such as Twitter, YouTube, and others.

The project is also constantly adding features that appeal to the needs of its users in order to increase its popularity as well as its client base. Just recently, the cryptocurrency-powered browser unveiled a new feature on its platform dubbed “Brave Together.”

This new feature allows users to enjoy video conferencing features including, ”private and unlimited HD video calling, screen sharing, YouTube video sharing, chat for participants, raise a hand, and speaker stats and analytics.
