Bitcoin’s Biggest Whales in 2025: Satoshi, MicroStrategy, and the Winklevoss Twins

Bitcoin has become a worldwide phenomenon and an inspiring story of the growth and prosperity of a community. However, the number one crypto has also brought significant gains to individuals. But who holds the most Bitcoin in 2025? The answer is Satoshi Nakamoto, the founder of Prime Crypto, if you are looking for an individual owner. However, who holds the most Bitcoin among companies, countries and billionaires? With the recent advances in Bitcoin popularity, now this currency is broadly used as a store of value. Let’s dive into the details and see who owns the most Bitcoin in each sector.

    The Biggest Corporate Crypto Holder

Although we don’t know the exact name of the founder or founders of Bitcoin, we use the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto. The Bitcoin network works as a decentralised platform controlled by the participants, and currently nobody owns Bitcoin. However, Satoshi Nakamoto Bitcoin reserve is the largest number of BTC a stockpile currently holds. As of writing this, Satoshi currently holds nearly 968,452 BTC. Satoshi Nakamoto’s nearly one million BTC is the accumulated reward for mining Bitcoin blocks. It is worth mentioning that Satoshi was the first Bitcoin miner and invented the first BTC mining device.

However, who holds the most Bitcoin among companies? Strategy (former MicroStrategy), founded by Michael Saylor, holds the most Bitcoin among corporate Bitcoin investors. Strategy Bitcoin reserve holds 528,185 BTC, with the latest purchase of 22,000 BTC worth nearly $2 billion. As of now, the total BTC holdings of MicroStrategy are worth around $40 billion.

Who is the Biggest Bitcoin Billionaire in 2025?

We discussed Satoshi Nakamoto Bitcoin holdings, however, it is not known if the founder is actually an individual. Who holds the most Bitcoin in 2025 among Billionaires? Winklevoss twins have the biggest Bitcoin stockpile among Billionaires with a whopping 70,000 BTC worth nearly $5.3 billion today. They settled with Mark Zuckerberg in 2008 for nearly $65 million, starting their own investment firm shortly after. A few years later, they bought $11 million BTC for $10 per coin.

How Much Bitcoin Does Michael Saylor Own Today?

Tim Draper, the American Venture Capital investor, is next in line for the biggest BTC holders among billionaires. He originally bought 40K BTC from the now-defunct Mt Gox exchange. However, these were stolen in the infamous Mt Gox hack, so he bought another 29K BTC in 2014. The purchase was made for $632 per token, culminating in $18.7, and as of now, it is worth $2.2 billion. Additionally, in third place, we have Michael Saylor, who purchased 17,732 BTC in 2020. His Bitcoin reserve now is nearly worth $1.3 billion.

Which Country Owns the Most BTC?

As governments found out about the value and potential of Bitcoin, various countries have begun holding BTC. But who owns the most Bitcoin among countries? The United States, with almost 200,000, has the biggest Bitcoin holdings among various countries. This title belongs to the USA since March 2025, when Trump announced the launch of the strategic Bitcoin reserve. Although before 2025 the United States government had Bitcoin in its holdings, there was no official name for these holdings. The Chinese government comes in second place with nearly 15,000 BTC, seized from scammers in 2019.
