Crypto influencer Ben Armstrong, popularly known as “BitBoy,” was arrested in Volusia County, Florida, on March 25, 2025, after allegedly sending threatening emails to a Florida Judge, Kimberly Child. His arrest has sparked widespread attention in the crypto community, where he’s well known for his outspoken presence and influence on social media.
Arrest and Investigation Details
Armstrong’s arrest followed after a Florida judge received threatening emails, which were said to have been sent from Armstrong’s email address. It is reported that the Volusia County Division of Corrections, Florida, has listed Armstrong as a Fugitive From Justice. The emails’ content, as quoted, involved not just threats but also attempts at influencing the judicial process.
Before his arrest on March 21, 2025, taking to his X account, Armstrong addressed an open warrant against him and said, “I can now confirm that the warrants for my arrest are due to me sending emails.” At the time of writing, Armstrong remains in custody without bail. The warrant was issued in response to the emails Armstrong allegedly sent to Judge Kimberly Childs of Cobb County, Georgia, while representing himself in a legal case. However, the authorities have not confirmed the content of the emails or whether they contributed to legal action against him.
This Is Not His First Time!
Before now, Armstrong has faced multiple other legal challenges in recent years. Armstrong was arrested in September 2023 following a conflict outside the residence of his ex-business partner. The incident was live-streamed by Armstrong, who stated that his ex-business partner had illegally taken his Lamborghini. He had also uploaded a post on his X account claiming that he will “be going live soon from a very special location on YouTube. Reportedly, when officials reached the scene, they discovered illegal substances in his car and arrested him.
Not only this, he was also named in a class action lawsuit in March 2023 for allegedly promoting Binance. According to Fortune, this lawsuit was filed against Binance, its founder CZ, and several influencers, claiming they promoted unregistered securities. This lawsuit sought over $1 billion in damages. The defendants included NBA star Jimmy Butler and crypto influencers Ben Armstrong and Graham Stephan. Armstrong was accused of illegally promoting Binance’s offerings.
Community Reactions
The cryptocurrency community has responded with varied emotions to the arrest of Armstrong. His followers view the move as overreach, while opponents point to a pattern of suspicious actions. The action has also prompted arguments on the accountability of crypto influencers and potential regulatory ramifications for the industry. With Armstrong remaining in custody and waiting for legal action, the case is likely to have far-reaching implications for cryptocurrency rules and influencer responsibility. So far, Florida officials have not released additional information on the charges against Armstrong or if his lawyers have issued any comments. The case is still ongoing, with possible long-term implications for both Armstrong and the wider crypto space.
