Avalanche (AVAX) Jumps 13% Following Integration With Popular MapleStory Game

AVAX

Iconic MMORPG MapleStory launches on the Avalanche network, bringing thousands of active gamers to the blockchain world.

The layer-1 blockchain Avalanche has become home to the iconic massively multiplayer online role-playing game MapleStory. The latest move is a result of Ava Labs’ partnership with MapleStory’s creator, the South Korean game studio Nexon. Avalanche’s native coin, AVAX, has soared following news of the integration.

MapleStory Enters Avalanche Network

Launched in 2003, MapleStory positions itself as a renowned 2D side-scrolling game. It also contributed to popularize the free-to-play game model. Over the past two decades, the game has recorded over 260 million signups globally. It also boasts over 400,000 daily active gamers. Today, the game’s creator brings these players into the blockchain.

Avalanche revealed in its blog post that the partnership aims to enable MapleStory players to step up from Web2 gaming to Web3 gaming, accompanied by several rewards in the form of in-game perks, non-fungible tokens (NFTs), and other user-generated content. MapleStory will utilize an Avalanche subnet to build gamified experiences for users.

MapleStory’s Partnership Lead, Angela Son, shared insights into more benefits of the integration:

“Our partnership with Ava Labs will allow us to build a stable and complete blockchain ecosystem, enabling us to securely service various dApps along with MapleStory N to amplify our competitiveness.”

More Projects Onboard Avalanche

This is not the first time a gaming project will onboard the Avalanche network. Last month, the gaming studio Gunzilla adopted the layer-1 network to launch an Xbox-compatible cyberpunk shooter game called Off The Grid. These partnerships continue despite recent network lags recorded within the Avalanche ecosystem.

Following today’s integration with MapleStory, AVAX has jumped by over 13% in the last 24 hours to a trading price of $47.4.
